The starry expanse is set to be the backdrop for a handful of upcoming games this year, including Section 9 Interactive’s “sci-fi action adventure title for PC and the next-generation consoles.” Section 9 is a newly-established studio based in Malmö, Sweden, housing developers who previously worked on Little Nightmares 2 and its predecessor. The team also worked on LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita, lending its tragically cute designs to their new project....

One reason why Fortnite has become so successful is due to the popularity of its Battle Pass. The Battle Pass gives players a series of seven challenges that they need to complete each week to unlock a variety of content, including exclusive cosmetic items, emotes, and more. Fortnite is currently the largest battle royale game in the world, with more than 40 million downloads at the time of this writing. The game has a large player base spread out across PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and Epic Games has continuously updated the game to keep fans engaged. However, anyone hoping to see some more substantial updates for Fortnite - like a new map or the addition of vehicles - may be out of luck....

Not only have drivable cars finally arrived in Fortnite, but the vehicles come with fully-functioning radios that play real songs by some very famous artists. It was a long wait between the start of Fortnite and the addition of its first vehicles. Then, it was an even longer wait between that and the introduction of drivable cars. Epic revealed that cars were coming to Fortnite this season via the trailer at the start of it....

One more of those deadly bugs has been found. Season 9 of Fornite has just begun and another instant death area threatens players who may accidentally stumble upon it. These instant death areas are becoming uncomfortably common in Fortnite lately. These bugs inhabit specific tiles on the map, and when they are stepped on, it causes a player’s character to abruptly die. These are the frustrating bugs no one wants to come across in a competitive title, but this marks at least the third reported case of this type of bug making its way into the game....

Professional Fortnite player and Twitch streamer DrLupo has shattered previous records by raising nearly $1 million for charity in under five hours. DrLupo partnered with Guardian Con, a Florida-based gaming convention for a marathon stream with the goal of raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which seeks to benefit children suffering from cancer and terminal illnesses. While DrLupo has enough influence among the Fortnite community to get a fundraiser going strong, he included a number of details in a Tweet showing what viewers would see if certain goals were met....

G2 Esports have been crowned as the 2020 League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Split champions after defeating Fnatic with a clean 3-0 sweep in the Grand Final. This is G2’s seventh LEC, formerly European LCS, championship title. G2 continued their 2019 dominance in 2020’s opening season, even after switching the roles of Luka “PerkZ” Perković and Rasmus “Caps” Winther for a second time. G2 topped the regular season standings with a 15-3 record, only taking losses to FC Schalke 04, MAD Lions, and Misfits Gaming....

Just because we’re all stuck indoors, doesn’t mean kids can’t have fun… and do so while learning! Tech Will Save Us - an online and offline learning resource for kids - has launched Game Designer Club; a free-to-join online hub for children ages 6-10+ to go to for projects and activities themed around creating and actually building video games. Similar to other online code-learning offerings, such as Learn To Code, the club is a resource to be used in conjunction with home-schooling or as an after-school learning resource, teaching kids coding and design skills, which have the underlying benefits of fostering creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration....

Gamescom officials have announced the lineup of developers and publishers for this year’s digital event and it’s a hell of a guest list. With the messy history of canceling the live event and refunding convention-goers behind it, we can all look forward to seeing a ridiculously packed show when the streams commence from August 27 to August 30. The highlights include Microsoft (listed as Xbox), Sega Europe, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard....

According to several different sources, GameStop is having more staff work on June 15 due to an expected surge of customers. For those that don’t know, June 15 also happens to be the same day as Nintendo’s E3 direct in which it plans to showcase forty minutes of software announcements. This news comes from both industry insider Jeff Grubb and YouTuber Spawn Wave who have both recently posted to Twitter to share details of some kind of GameStop event and a surge of customers next week....

Each new entry in the series has added new villagers and made each resident’s personality just a little more immersive. With New Horizons, villagers — especially the ones from previous games — aren’t just limited to activities in line with their base personalities and interests anyone....

The battle of Blue Shell and the lasagna will continue on into a new era of warfare, as a new entry in the Garfield Kart series has been revealed - Garfield Kart: Furious Racing. The original Garfield Kart was released for Android devices, the Nintendo 3DS and on Steam in 2013, where it received almost universally negative reviews. There have been plenty of Kart racing games released over the years that have featured popular animated characters, but Garfield Kart managed to reach memetic levels of awfulness....

Hot on the heels of the official trailer for the debut of the Arbiter in Killer Instinct, a leak speculating on two more members joining the game’s season three roster has emerged, and one of the characters is a nightmare emerging from one of the Xbox’s most popular franchises....

Genshin Impact is a gacha game, which means that new characters are coming out just about every month. Now that the game has been out for over half a year though, some older characters feel like they have heavily slid behind. While some of these were always considered low-tier, with powerhouses like Hu Tao releasing, it’s even harder to keep these characters on your team. This is especially sad since all of the characters have such great designs, and there are tons of fans who actually love the starting team....

Genshin Impact 1.3 is finally available, and if you’re like us then you’re probably scouring the entirety of Teyvat to complete as much of the new content as possible, and just one of the brand new quests you can tackle is the Tianqiu Treasure Trail world quest that you receive from Lan in Liyue. Lan has run into a few problems and needs you to help solve them, which is fine, as you’re a competent and skilled traveller who has been around Teyvat once or twice by this point....

Dvalin was a dragon that was corrupted by the Abyss Order and the first boss of Genshin Impact. He is now known by the people of Mondstadt as Stormterror and is a weekly boss that the player can fight in order to get rare drops. Like with Childe, there are several different levels players can choose from, with the higher fight levels giving better rewards. Depending on your party and how you play the game though, Dvalin can be an irritating boss battle that takes way too much of your time....

Travelers have two more days to try and acquire the newest Genshin Impact five-star, Albedo, before his “Special Character Banner” concludes. That being said, many players have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion of this banner, as it implies the introduction of the game’s next rare five-star character, the Liyue Qixing’s Emissary, Ganyu.
