Today, Counterplay Games released its official launch trailer for Godfall, the looter-slasher PS5 launch title arriving on November 12. In addition, the developer also held a 30-minute Q&A session with YouTubers Arekkz, My Name Is Byf that dove into all aspects of Godfall, from inventory management and world-building to looting and co-op play. Another item the Q&A focused on was Godfall’s endgame. Godfall doesn’t end after Macros is defeated and peace has returned to the realm....

A Redditor has discovered code within FIFA 17 that seems to indicate the game secretly adjusts difficulty depending on how a game is going, something the studio said it hadn’t done. Members of the FIFA 17 community are in turmoil after a Reddit user named girlfriend_pregnant discovered evidence within the game’s code that the title may support rubber banding after all. For the unaware, that’s not a term referring to a lag-induced effect in this case....

Over the weekend, Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood opened its doors to players as part of an early access session— but unfortunately, technical issues marred the experience for many. Now, Square Enix has offered some insight into what caused the outages. Apparently, the problems plaguing Final Fantasy 14 weren’t caused by the game itself, or the hardware setup that the studio has implemented to underpin the MMO. Instead, they were the work of an as-yet-unidentified group who decided to stage a DDoS attack on the game just as players were flocking to try the expansion out for themselves....

The Final Fantasy VII Remake took a number of liberties with the original game, expanding upon some ideas encountered back then, and even adding some completely new ones. However, the game’s co-director Yoshimori Kitase had already stated that the game would not be completely different from the original. An interview in the 750-page book Ultimania that accompanies the game, translated by Twitter user @aitaikimochi, quotes Kitase as saying that, “We’re not drastically changing the story and making it into something completely different than the original....

Square Enix has launched a new series on its YouTube channel that details the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a game that fans have wanted since the days of the PlayStation 2. The original version of Final Fantasy VII used a mixture of the chibi style of Final Fantasy VI for its overworld and more realistic proportions for battle scenes. As such, the visuals of the game swiftly between outdated, especially in comparison to those of Final Fantasy VIII....

The first graphical enhancement mod for Bethesda’s RPG Fallout 4 releases, removing the sepia tone and making the game look brighter and more vibrant. Just one day after the release of Fallout 4, one talented fan has already put together a mod with the purpose of enhancing the game’s graphics. Nexus Mods user Razed developed the mod using ReShade and SweetFX Preset in order to make Bethesda’s newly developed wasteland a brighter, more colorful looking area....

A rare skin pack for Fortnite is making a return before winter, according to some eyewitness sightings. Many skins in Fortnite have limited availability and rotate out of the store every few months. However, some skins are only available for direct purchase on special occasions, like the Frozen Legends Pack. Originally released in 2018, this $24.99 pack contains three Fortnite skins. Some players have spotted the pack in the Nintendo Switch version, thought it is not purchasable yet....

Fortnite’s Season 4: Nexus War has begun, introducing a bunch of Marvel’s Avengers who are facing off against the big-bad cosmic entity known as Galactus. As far as Fortnite crossovers go, this is arguably one of the biggest and most anticipated. The now-purchasable battle pass comes resplendent with comic book hero skins, such as She-Hulk, Iron Man, Mystique, Storm, and more. The day 13 challenge in Fortnite’s 14 Days of Summer event is asking players to “search the tiny rubber ducky hidden in the Summertime Splashdown loading screen.” The Summertime Splashdown loading screen is earned by having completed Fortnite’s day 8 challenge during the 14 Days of Summer, and it features a character, with the new Summer Drift skin, throwing water balloons on a beach. Finding the tiny rubber ducky will reward players with a Sparkles Music Pack, a rarity in the battle royale game....

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has attained an insane amount of success over the past few months, quickly becoming the most viewed streamer on Twitch and smashing multiple viewership records. It should come as no surprise, then, that the Fortnite streamer will be making an appearance at E3 alongside Geoff Keighley. Ninja and Keighley will be a part of YouTube’s “Live at E3” live stream, during which the renowned Fortnite player will receive his diamond play button, a special reward given to all YouTube personalities with more than 10 million subscribers....

A goofy tale about an amphibian detective was something we didn’t know we needed and certainly don’t deserve. But we’ve been blessed by Grace Bruxner, who has allowed us to play as one! Frog Detective is a game enjoyed by many for its cute art style and silly humor. Microsoft’s long-awaited Xbox Games Showcase has finally arrived, and with it a ton of first-party announcements for Xbox Series X. There were over 20 new titles shown during the conference, ranging from powerhouses like Halo Infinite to surprises like Avowed. Several of these games from Xbox Game Studios are coming this Fall, as well as titles like Forza Motorsport and Fable are coming in the near future. But perhaps the most important tidbit that connects all these games: Every game shown is coming to Xbox Game Pass....

COVID-19 has impacted businesses and individuals all over the world, including the massive video game retailer GameStop. In Q1 of 2020, GameStop posted that its revenue was in decline, and that seems to have continued into Q2 of 2020. Between this year’s bad sales due to COVID and the permanent closure of over 300 GameStop stores, things were not looking good for the retail giant in Q2. However, it did post some rise in sales for its online, e-commerce side of the business, which gave it a little hope....

There’s an awesome gaming detail you may not have noticed in Mass Effect 2, which is that the map of the solar system which it features reflects an almost completely accurate depiction of how our solar system is expected to look in the year 2185, which is when the game is set. While this kind of level of detail may not generally be picked up by most players, for those die-hard science-savvy fans of the sci-fi action role-playing game this is the kind of thing that earns extra space brownie points....

The folks over at CD Projekt Red aren’t afraid to slip some anachronistic pop culture references into their games. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is teeming with Easter eggs that are related to movies, TV shows, and other pieces of media that Geralt and his crew couldn’t possibly be aware of. Sometimes the references are at least based on properties that share a similar medieval setting, such as this one that shouts out one of the best comedies of all time, Monty Python & The Holy Grail....
