When Final Fantasy 15 was released in 2016, publisher Square Enix promised that the game would receive story-based downloadable content post-launch. Despite the title having already received several such additions, players can expect further DLC updates to be released throughout 2019. During a panel at PAX East yesterday, Square Enix took the time to outline its upcoming content roadmap for Final Fantasy 15, which included four new character-based story episodes, with the final installment supposedly providing an “alternate grand finale....

Final Fantasy 15 art director Yusuke Naora has left Square Enix after 24 years, and will shift into an independent role while still collaborating on designs with the company. Many fans had marked down September 30th as the date when the long-awaited Final Fantasy 15 was supposed to be released, following nearly a decade of development. Of course, this didn’t quite pan out that way, and Square Enix’s long-gestating RPG has since been pushed back to a November 29th release date....

The English cast of Final Fantasy VII Remake did a phenomenal job voicing characters that people have heard in their heads for decades, which is especially impressive when you consider that they received their lines shortly before recording them. Final Fantasy VII was released for the original PlayStation and it was already packed onto three discs, so it would have been unfeasible to include voiced dialogue for the main characters. It was rare for a game to have full voice acting during this era and only titles like Metal Gear Solid even attempted it....

It only took a little over twenty years, but Final Fantasy VII is finally playable on a Nintendo console. Final Fantasy VII is now available to buy on the Nintendo Switch, but it comes with the same bugs and glitches that have plagued the past few versions of the game. The version of Final Fantasy VII that appears on the Nintendo Switch is based on the remastered PC version of the game that was released in 2013 and that was also used for the iOS and PlayStation 4 versions of the game....

Chapter 2 Season 6 of Fortnite has arrived at last. As with every season, Fortnite’s island undergoes a series of locale changes and various geographic alterations. Fortnite season finales have always been major events, offering new scenarios for players to enjoy and drum up excitement for the next season. But it looks like Epic Games has been aiming to one-up itself every time as of late. It’s Marvel-themed Season 4 capped off with a cinematic final battle against Galactus, where players got to assist the superheroes in fending off, which went on to break records and become the biggest and most popular Fortnite finale ever....

The addition of NPCs to Fortnite has been an interesting change in the way people play the game. There are forty NPCs currently on the map that are tied to quests and are used to trade for items. As a new feature, it’s minimal, but it’s a solid start. However, according to a leak, the role of NPCs may be expanded in a future update. Epic Games tested the inclusion of NPCs in the game with mostly positive results....

Fortnite’s dimensional rifts have created an insane amount of chaos in and out of the game, with landmarks such as Greasy Grove’s Durr Burger appearing in California and real-life loot llamas popping up in Europe. Moreover, in-game additions include a Viking anchor and horse-drawn carriage, with the latest discovery being an animal skeleton. Fittingly set in Moisty Mire, the animal skeleton (see below) is only the latest discovery in the buildup to Fortnite season 5....

Fortnite’s patch notes for v5.20 have arrived, which means players now know exactly what kind of new and exciting craziness is coming to the game with the update. In addition to a hectic new limited time mode, close range fans will also be excited to find a new variety of shotgun waiting for them. The Double Barrel Shotgun (Battle Royale) should be a devastating tool for Fortnite players who like to get close to the enemy....

Fortnite Season 7 Week 3 has now begun in Epic Games’ hit multiplayer shooter, and players should be out there, completing challenges to get Battle Stars and unlock more cosmetic loot. However, fans’ plans hit a bit of a snag this morning when they began to face serious performance issues with the game’s modes. On social media, Fortnite players reported a range of connection issues with the game. Many players are saying that they are facing infinite loading screens upon trying to enter Fortnite’s various game modes....

Last week, Fortnite’s battle royale mode received a controversial update with major gameplay implications. This has led to a great deal of frustration amongst the player base, and many established community members have been speaking out against the changes through various channels. While this type of voiced dissatisfaction is certainly expected, and perhaps warranted, one particularly disgruntled Fortnite player seems to have escalated the situation considerably. On April 3, the official Fortnite Twitter account was hacked, and the perpetrator used their access to post an array of messages from the account....

All too often, we see prominent figures in the video game industry sully their reputation in full view of the fans. Whether it’s the ballad of Phil Fish, or one of the many other instances that we’ve seen a developer lose face in the very public setting of the internet, it’s always disappointing. However, that just makes seeing a video game personality go above and beyond for their fans an even more pleasant surprise....

The last couple years have seen numerous games delayed as developers scramble to complete upcoming titles. I sincerely hope we see an end to this practice in 2016. Game developers have announced release dates for their games, only to report a delay, setting the game back a few weeks or a couple years. This practice needs to end in 2016....
