A new lawsuit comes to light against Lester Speight, the actor behind Gears of War’s Augustus Cole, claiming that the actor stole the character from one Lenwood Hamilton. Lawsuits are a dime a dozen within the gaming industry, as they are assuredly for most billion-dollar mediums. With that said, every once in a while there’s a legal snafu that’s noteworthy because of its seemingly outlandish premise – at least in the eyes of gamers – with the recently dismissed case of Rockstar Games v Lindsay Lohan over accusations that an in-game character was based off of the actress being a prime example of this....

In a recently released video promoting the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive God of War, the title’s Director of Cinematography, Dori Arazi, discussed the game’s visuals and design, and specifically elaborated on what is described as the “Single-Shot Effect,” where the game is depicted as a totally immersive experience without loading screens. Interestingly enough, this one-shot camera trick was originally pitched by GoW director Cory Barlog for the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, but the developer Crystal Dynamics actually passed on the idea....

Anticipation has been building for God of War: Ragnarok particularly after a teaser trailer was revealed at the latest PlayStation 5 event. Many had been waiting for news about the sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War which put Kratos in a new mythology. This looks set to continue as the teaser revealed that “Ragnarok” was coming, however, there was not too much more to discern from the short video....

Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age is coming to PlayStation 4 this July and now Square Enix has officially unveiled two special editions of the game. On Square Enix’s online store, fans can currently pre-order a $200 Collector’s Edition complete with a Judge Magisters mini bust set, while a less flashy $50 Limited Edition is also available. The Collector’s Edition bust set features the likenesses of the various Judge characters in Final Fantasy 12, including Judges Bergan, Drace, Gabranth, Ghis, and Zargabaath....

There are aspects of Final Fantasy VII that haven’t aged well, and one of the most divisive scenes involved the cross-dressing quest in Wall Market. The majority of the characters are accepting of Cloud’s decision to dress like a woman and the inclusion of a storyline involving cross-dressing was almost unheard of in a video game in the ’90s. On the other hand, there are several NPCs who appear during this quest that are homophobic stereotypes, and their presence sticks out like a sore thumb....

New information about the upcoming Shadowbringers expansion for Final Fantasy XIV was released as part of the recent Fan Festival for the game. Shadowbringers will add two new playable races, a new job, a new Beast Tribe, new raids, and new enemies. (via. Nova Crystallis) It had already been revealed that the Viera from Final Fantasy XII would be coming to Final Fantasy XIV and it has now been confirmed that they will be a female-only race....

Considering the fact that Fire Emblem: Three Houses takes place at a school, it’s no surprise that even Byleth can stand to learn a little from Fodlan’s best and brightest. Ubisoft fans are in for a real treat with this latest For Honor and Assassin’s Creed crossover event. Beginning December 20 and running through January 10, 2019, this three-week long event sees players “relive” the lives of Knight, Viking, Samurai, or Wu Lin heroes through the Animus. And there’s proper lore to boot, too. Essentially, the Assassin’s Creed antagonistic company Abstergo has created a unique gaming experience entitled “For The Creed” that transports players into the For Honor world as one of the aforementioned factions....

Former lead writer on Overwatch, Michael Chu, who left Blizzard in March 2020 after 20 years, is reportedly working on a “multiplayer character action game” at 2K’s 31st Union studio, where he is the narrative director. At Blizzard, Chu was the senior designer for lore and story in Overwatch as well as the game’s lead writer. He was responsible for writing character backstories, most of the in-game dialogue, and producing the game’s animated shorts....

In a surprising move by Square Enix, it has been revealed that the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One ports of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will come with additional features that are absent in the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is an HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII that includes all of the additional content that was originally part of the Japan-exclusive International Zodiac Job System version of the game, which included a character class system that defined which abilities a character could learn....

The past few days have seen Rockstar come under fire for its apparent high expectations of employees, with a recent interview between Vulture and studio co-founder of creativity Dan Houser claiming he, along with co-workers, were working “100-hour work weeks” putting the finishing touches on Red Dead Redemption 2. While Houser has attempted to diffuse the situation by clarifying his comments, former developers have come forward sharing their own experiences during their time at Rockstar, and none of them appear to be pretty....

This week, Fortnite challenges players with catching fish at Craggy Cliffs, which many are finding is a bit harder than it sounds. Like most challenges in this game, the most difficult part of this week 5 challenge is actually finding the location and items required, so a little help should go a long way. This Fortnite challenge provides players with 35,000 experience towards their battle pass, and given its relative ease would be silly to pass up....

Valentine’s Day doesn’t come around until next week, but Fortnite is starting the fun early with its new Hearts Wild Event. During the event, you’ll find a tournament, new Creator Challenges, online papercraft, new “lovely” outfits in the Item Shop, and more. One of the new items to hit the Item Shop this week is the Lovely Outfit. You’ll have a chance to score the new costume early by taking part in the Hearts Wild Cup on February 9, which sees you accruing points over three hours of game time with your Duos partner – top-performing teams in each region will earn the Lovely Outfit and the Heartblast Back Bling....

As many Fortnite fans will likely agree, Season 4 has seen its fair share of adjustments to the map, fun and fresh Limited Time Modes, and of course, a slew of new cosmetics in the form of skins, pickaxes, gliders, and emotes for players to get. On top of all this, Battle Pass owners’ skills continue to be tested, and next week will offer several new trials to tackle, as the Season 4 Week 5 Battle Pass Challenges have surfaced online before their official addition to the game....
