It’s only been a month since Apple opted to remove Fortnite from its app store, citing developer and publisher Epic Games as having violated the terms and services. This led to Epic Games filing a lawsuit against Apple and the feud has only intensified since, with Epic taking potshots at Apple and even arguably weaponizing Fortnite players against it. Neither side has shown any sign of backing down. While Epic Games was unable to convince the courts to have Apple reinstate Fortnite, it filed a second motion which would allow it to update the game, so mobile players would be able to play the current Marvel-themed season....

Following months of rumors and speculation, EA finally announced Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a remastered collection of the original Mass Effect games with enhanced visuals, all of the DLC, and a variety of other improvements. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is set to launch spring 2021 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will be playable on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X thanks to those consoles’ backward compatibility with PS4 and Xbox One games....

Driveclub remains one of the most visually impressive games on the market. With an initial release in 2014 the racing game has undergone massive changes. One major change was the weather physics. Evolution Studios consistently worked after the release to deliver the most realistic experience. Some fans deem the game “the epitome of weather simulation in video games.” Evolution Studios implemented a proper physics system so that the rain particles are simulated according to the laws of force, acceleration, and motion....

Gearbox has an audacious bid in mind as they consider the star they want to voice Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands film adaptation. That man is none other than former WWE superstar and current Hollywood bigshot, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The developers are already immersed in enough drama as it is, where Claptrap’s voice is concerned, having split ways with the robot’s voice actor in a less than amicable fashion. But, with a movie now on the agenda, The Rock’s the one wanted for the job....

At E3 2019, The Coalition appeared on stage during Microsoft’s press conference to showcase Gears 5. Not only did The Coalition confirm Gears 5’s release date, but it also revealed a brand new co-op game mode that’s coming to the game called Escape. Gears 5’s Escape Mode will be a three player co-op experience where players have to plant bombs in Hives and escape with their lives. Based on the trailer, it seems as though players will have unique abilities to help them survive against the hordes, including an electrically-charged knife....

Though nowhere near as explosive as the debates over which character is strongest, many an internet argument has erupted in Genshin Impact’s short lifetime around which element is the most useful. Right now, it’s difficult to argue against pyro users being the leaders of the pack (even if this writer prefers electro characters). While the battle for elemental supremacy smoulders on, it’s easier to rank the usefulness of elemental resonances – the stat bonuses awarded for doubling up on one or two elements in your party – in the meantime....

Germany will no longer uphold its total ban of Nazi symbols in video games, after a change to rating body USK’s regulations. From now on, such symbols previously deemed “unconstitutional” in Germany will be considered for their artistic justification, similar to how World War II movies are allowed to be shown in the country despite their frequent inclusion of swastikas. Before the ban, any games which displayed banned symbols were denied an age rating, preventing them from being sold in Germany....

Ghost of Tsushima is far from Sucker Punch Productions’ first foray into open-world games. The Infamous franchise on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 provided urban open-world mayhem for years. This samurai game takes a different approach to the genre, focusing more on living in the world as a Japanese warrior rather than causing destruction. That’s not to say there is not plenty to do and slice up, however. Even after beating the main story, one’s sojourn on the island of Tsushima is far from finished....

Sucker Punch’s upcoming samurai title, Ghost of Tsushima, is stacking up to look like a perfect send off for the final year of the PS4’s life cycle. Thanks to the recent PlayStation State of Play, players have been given a more in-depth look at protagonist Jin and how he will look and control when the game releases in July. One thing that players have noticed and has been a fairly large topic of discussion among fans lately is how much Ghost of Tsushima looks like the Assassin’s Creed franchise....

The latest God of War title was highly celebrated upon release for its incredible story. While the game’s gameplay, gorgeous art direction, one-shot feature, and mythology were praised as well, what drives the game home as one of the best video games of all time is its overall story. Playing the game is a rollercoaster from start to finish. The players will be treated with twists upon twists and well-earned payoffs in the end....

Warner Bros. Games Montreal has finally unveiled their new reboot of the Batman franchise in the form of Gotham Knights: an open world action-adventure RPG in which Batman is dead. Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood reconcile and rise to the occasion to pick up where he left off and become Gotham City’s symbols of justice. Of course, fans are excited to play the game next year since it was confirmed to have some familiar elements of the beloved Batman: Arkham series so fans of that series are not alienated but there are also going to be new elements....

Despite a ton of talk recently over graphical supremacy, it’s tough to beat the look and feel of a classic 8 or 16-bit title. Though they might not carry the same impressive visuals as today’s titles, what they lack in crispness, they more than make up for in clever design. It really makes you wonder what some series might look like using 8-bit graphics. While we were given a brief hint of what the Assassin’s Creed series could have liked like in the 16-bit era during Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, one dedicated filmmaker has given gamers an even more detailed version of Ezio’s adventure, but this time using 8-bit graphics....

For the longest time, the Final Fantasy franchise was stuck in a bit of a rut. With the ending of the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, it would be a long time before Final Fantasy 15 would eventually release to fans. That’s without even counting the death and rebirth of the Final Fantasy 14 MMO, which was in and of itself a rollercoaster of game development. However, that rollercoaster and ultimate success of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn would lead to the creation of the upcoming Final Fantasy 16, which has already impressed several fans....

With how long it took for Square Enix to release Final Fantasy VII Remake after its announcement, you’d think work would be well underway on the upcoming sequel. Turns out that assumption would be wrong, at least if the Japanese release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Ultimania is to be believed. Fire Emblem Heroes has gotten an update today that’s added several new features. Fire Emblem Heroes is a mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Fire Emblem series. In it, the player takes the role of “the Summoner,” who is able to summon Heroes from different worlds. For example the Gatekeeper, who won Round 5 of the Choose Your Legends vote. These Heroes include characters from across the Fire Emblem series, which the player can collect in a gacha system by spending orbs....
