Plans have recently been laid out for Virtual Cabin 2.0, the next version of the interactive museum found in Friday the 13th: The Game. The original Virtual Cabin was created as an add-on to the game’s Kickstarter campaign. It functioned as a standalone experience, where players could casually explore the area without threats. They are free to observe the game’s various assets, solve simple puzzles, and find some interesting series easter eggs along the way....

Genshin Impact fans have spent the last several weeks enjoying an influx of brand new content thanks to the game’s Version 1.1 update. New storylines, quests, characters, enemies, and events have all made their way into the game, but in the midst of all this celebration, one character asks players to take a pause for a short Happy Birthday hoorah. Most players are aware that Travelers receive a special message on their own birthdays, but as Genshin Impact continues to develop, it’s starting to become clear that all characters’ birthdays will receive a brief celebration....

Reports of two cancelled Capcom games have been brought to the attention of retro gamers, who were apparently very close to receiving a Ghouls ’n Ghosts revival. The second game was allegedly a new IP titled Timeless, after various concept art images surfaced online. John Miller, a senior character artist at Capcom from 2017 to 2018, uploaded various concept art samples on his ArtStation account to showcase his work. The series of images included designs created for a revamped Ghouls ’n Ghosts game, combined with a peek at Capcom’s brand new IP Timeless....

2020 continues its downward spiral; Naya Rivera has been reported as “missing” after her four-year-old son was found alone in a boat at a lake in southern California, and Ventura County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to prepare for the worst. The 33-year-old Rivera, who is most well-known for her role as Santana Lopez in the hit TV series Glee, currently watchable on Netflix, vanished from Lake Piru in Ventura County on Wednesday evening....

Sony’s anticipated modern title in the God of War series is a change of direction, bringing a brand new setting and genre to the franchise. Launching in April, the PlayStation-exclusive title will feature Norse Mythology and the introduction of Kratos’ son, named Atreus. Yesterday, Sony released a walkthrough-style episode for its “PS Underground” show, which the exploration section of God of War’s large world. While presenting a battle showing Kratos fighting a large troll, the developers take time to reflect on the multiple ways to damage the boss, and how strategy plays an important role in taking down an imposing enemy like this....

The premise of a “looter-slasher” was an interesting hook for Godfall when the game was first announced at the 2019 Game Awards. Theoretically, using the loot-based progression systems of a game like Destiny and marrying it with satisfying melee combat has all the makings of a fantastic new game. However, when the game’s coverage started to thin and gameplay trailers were few and far between, Godfall started to fall off players’ radar....

Godzilla vs. Kong unsurprisingly cannot get along without a third party to unite against, Mechagodzilla in this case. It appears the mechanical monster was “inspired” by a bad robot design in Michael Bay’s Transformers, with director Adam Wingard deciding not to repeat the same mistakes. Mechagodzilla’s appearance in Godzilla vs. Kong was hardly a surprise for the fans, as creators briefly teased the mechanical beast in the film’s trailers. As always, Godzilla and King Kong have to unite their efforts against the mutual enemy, leaving the audience in awe during the final showdown....

Heading into the Golden Globes, it appeared like change was in the air with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association giving more nominations to Netflix films Marriage Story and The Irishman than any other major Best Drama contender. And yet, both films wound up missing out on the highest prizes of the Globes. Indeed, while transition appears to be in the air, the old guard is very much represented in the pair of Best Picture winners: a World War I drama and a “comedy” paean to the beauty of Hollywood from a respected auteur....

19 years after its launch, Square Enix’s long-time MMORPG Final Fantasy 11 is still alive and kicking. With a new story arc just released in 2020, Final Fantasy 11’s producer Akihiko Matsui has recently mentioned in his New Year’s greetings that players can expect story expansions and more will be implemented in 2021. In his holiday salutations shared in the game’s site, Matsui brought to light the challenges the whole team faced as they adapted to a new work-from-home environment, even lamenting cancelling in-person events as other game developers have had to during the pandemic....

Final Fantasy 15 has established itself as a game that is looking toward the future of the JRPG genre with one eye lingering on the series’ storied past. For every new Final Fantasy 15 gameplay demonstration that unveils another nuanced addition to what appears to be the next evolution in JRPG combat systems, there is a reminder that Square Enix is aware of the history behind these drastic changes....

With the Final Fantasy 7 Remake came the return of Materia in combat. These little orbs help you out by giving you advantages on the battlefield. Some let you cast magic, some give you a boost to your ATB gauge, and some, when combined, can unleash devastating attacks that leave your foes wondering why they even bothered attacking you in the first place. Throughout the game, you come across a bunch of these helpful orbs, but it isn’t exactly clear which ones you should be using....

Final Fantasy 7 Remake made a host of changes to the original game’s plot, with some being more cryptic than others. While many new characters and scenes expanded or fleshed-out Cloud’s adventures in Midgar, other additions seem to be foreshadowing mysteries that have yet take shape. But given the length of the original Final Fantasy 7, and the comparatively small amount of the story that Remake has covered so far, it is unsurprising that an effort to foreshadow things in the first installment could read as completely random....

The number of endless runner games available on iOS and Android devices, along with the Nintendo Switch is staggering. The unfortunate part is that most of those titles are just tired rehashings of other runners, most of which use in-game microtransactions to make the experience “better.” Fledgling Heroes - from Austrian indie studio Subtle Boom - looks like it could be breathing new life into the genre when the game releases for Nintendo Switch on May 7, 2020....

Sega and Atlus have expressed interest in porting more of their popular games, including titles in the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, to PC. This past week, on August 5, 2020, Sega released their fiscal year financial reports covering the period from April to June 2020. Part of the report covered the notable success of their recent Persona 4 Golden PC port, which was released this past summer. During the Q&A portion of the presentation, one investor asked about the possibility of porting more popular game titles to the PC and selling them on Steam....

BioWare’s former senior creative director Mike Laidlaw made headlines in October 2017 when he announced that he would be leaving the company after 14 years. Laidlaw had been a key figure on the Dragon Age development team and so many fans were eager to see what the developer would be getting up to next. In a new interview during The Game Informer Show podcast, Laidlaw discussed his post-BioWare plans, explaining that he is currently doing some consultant work....

Love ’em or hate ’em, bosses are great if you’re looking for an extra level of challenge. Here’s where you can find them. Bosses are hostile AIs that you can find in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. These guys hang around a certain location and will attack you if they spot you nearby. It is wise to approach them carefully. The benefits of defeating a boss are that they will usually drop rare or unique loot that can tremendously help you carry on the game and might even be the difference between winning or losing the match....

Upon reaching Level 73 on Fortnite’s Season 5 Battle Pass, players will gain access to a Beskar Quest that instructs them to find Beskar Steel where the earth meets the sky. While this is not the first time that fans will be tracking down Beskar Steel this season, the exact location that is being pointed to by the quest may not be immediately obvious. Fortnite has dabbled in all sorts of high-profile crossovers throughout its lifespan, most recently with Season 3’s inclusion of Aquaman. But with the start of Season 4 this week comes its most ambitious crossover yet, as the entire season is Marvel-themed, complete with a grand cosmic-scale crossover story involving Thor and Galactus tying the universes of Marvel and Fortnite together. The meat of the season’s new content so far lies in the sizable number of Marvel skins and cosmetic items that lets players deck themselves out as Iron Man, Wolverine, She-Hulk, Groot, Doctor Doom, Mystique, and more....
