This Girls review contains spoilers. Girls Season 6 Episode 8 This is an odd episode of Girls that throws characters together unexpectedly and ends up being half upbeat and half super, super sad. The upbeat half involves Ray and, completely out of nowhere, Shoshanna’s former boss, Abigail (Aidy Bryant). This is a character I can’t say I ever thought about much or expected to ever see again, so that she showed up and then had an instant connection with Ray is quite the weird surprise....

When I was growing up, I had a cousin who would become the protagonist of whatever film or video game he had just completed. After seeing the 2008 Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell film Get Smart, he was a secret agent. Him and I also crafted a parody song entitled “I Kissed The Rock and I Liked it” based off the infamous scene from the aforementioned film. After seeing Sherlock Holmes in theatres with our grandmother and other cousin, he spent the rest of the day deducing our every action....

Google has stopped production and sales of its Pixel 4 and 4 XL smartphones, after only nine months on store shelves. The company confirmed that the phones would be discontinued after both models were listed as out of stock on the Google Store in the US and Canada, though remaining inventory may still be on sale in other markets. The Pixel 4 and 4 XL launched in October of last year as Google’s flagship models for 2019....

On Monday, Google announced in a blog post that it was clarifying its billing policies since some developers seemed confused as to which transactions must go through its app store billing system. In the past, some developers, like Netflix and Spotify, have circumvented the system and avoided paying Google 30% for in-app purchases by prompting users to pay them directly. Now, Google says it will no longer allow apps to bypass the requirement, giving companies until September 30 to integrate their billing systems....

The gaming community is known for its creativity - especially when it comes to inventive controller inputs. Blizzard Entertainment’s multiplayer shooter Overwatch has been played with a bunch of bananas and even a breadstick, while Cuphead has been beaten using a Dance Dance Revolution pad. This creativity was on show again at the anime fighting game convention, Anime Ascension 2019, which took place over the weekend. A video posted on social media showed fighting game player and Twitch streamer Joeseff using a Guitar Hero controller to beat an opponent during a match of (what appears to be) a game from the Guilty Gear series....

While everyone’s busy with the holidays, Final Fantasy XIV players have just wrapped up a holiday of their own. It’s the annual Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Tokyo, where the game’s creative team goes to discuss and reveal the MMO’s upcoming content plans. The two-day event is kicked off with a keynote event where project director Naoki Yoshida, Yoshi-P, drops his big announcements....

Square Enix announced Wednesday morning that Final Fantasy 14’s free trial experience is being massively expanded with the game’s next update. Not only will the free trial’s level cap be raised from 35 all the way up to 60, but all of Final Fantasy 14’s Heavensward expansion story content is also being included. The patch is set to launch on August 11. The expanded free trial arrives with Final Fantasy 14 patch 5....

Final Fantasy VII Remake was supposed to appeal to both fans of the original game and to people who are new to the series. This turned out not to be the case, as scenes from the end of the game will make no sense to anyone not familiar with the lore of Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Near the end of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the player witnesses a scene where a mysterious man with black hair is facing off against Shinra soldiers....

Deck13 is a German game developer best known for its Ankh series of adventure games in 2000s and its more recent work on the Souls-like Lords of the Fallen. But it’s found a renewed vigor working on The Surge franchise with Focus Home Interactive. Apparently the partnership has been working so well that Focus Home Interactive decided to make the partnership much more official. Deck13 announced this past week that it has been acquired by Focus Home Interactive....

Peter Moore once served as the head of EA’s EA Sports division, which is responsible for all of EA’s various sports titles like FIFA and Madden. He left EA and the games industry entirely in February 2017 to become the CEO of Liverpool Football Club but, after resigning from that position last summer, Moore has announced that he is returning to the industry, specifically joining Unity to oversee Sports and Live Entertainment as Senior Vice President and General Manager....

In line with the upcoming release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame in theaters this week, The Avengers are set to return to Epic Games’ popular shooter game, Fortnite. Yesterday, the studio teased fans on the upcoming crossover event on Twitter showcasing Captain America’s iconic shield. Now, Epic Games is teasing the partnership once again with a weapon that fans of the Marvel universe are sure to be familiar with. The next piece of superhero paraphernalia that will be available in the crossover event is Thor’s enchanted axe, known as the Stormbreaker....

Another week in Fortnite means another set of challenges, with this week’s including the standard array, a New Years-inspired fireworks challenge, and a challenge for searching certain letters. In the following order, Fortnite players will need to find an “O” west of Pleasant Park, “S” in Wailing Woods, “M” in Dusty Divot, and “N” under a frozen lake. Fortnite’s newest and most fun form of transport is the Loot Shark, but riding one isn’t as simple as grabbing its fin and letting the man-eating fish do the rest of the work. Fortnite Season 3 is almost a week old at this point. Chances are a lot of hardened players will have already become accustomed to what is effectively a brand new map. Yes, in reality, it is Season 2’s map with a lot more water, but so much water has been dumped on the island by the evil Midas that it has altered the way in which Fortnite is played....

Not too long ago, Epic Games brought about a bevy of changes and added a bunch of fresh content for Season 8 of its free-to-play multiplayer shooter, Fortnite Battle Royale, including the addition of new map locations and new items like the Treasure Map. Now, the developer is set to continue incorporating new playable assets into the game, by teasing the addition of a new vehicle that’s aptly dubbed “The Baller”....

Fortnite is a constantly evolving experience, with Epic Games adding and removing weapons on a frequent basis as it tries to balance the 100-person battle royale shooter as much as possible. The latest weapon temporarily removed from the game, the guided missile, wasn’t removed because of balancing issues, however. As announced by Epic Games on Reddit, the guided missile is temporarily removed from Fortnite due to an “animation issue.” Epic didn’t clarify what this issue was exactly, but it seems as though the decision to remove the weapon from the game is a popular one, if the comments on the post are anything to go by....

Guns and items are always coming and going in Epic Games’ battle royale title Fortnite, with the latest soon-to-be new item known as the Port-a-Fortress, a presumably better version of the Port-a-Fort. Still, this constant introduction and removal doesn’t prevent others from chipping in their ideas, and a dedicated battle royale fan recently suggested an item known as a Stim-Gun. This concept was developed by Reddit user, jmzofficial, and essentially offers another way of healing in Fortnite....

Marvel’s Fortnite event has picked up serious steam over recent weeks, adding more heroes and locations to help prepare players for their battle with Galactus. It seems like that battle is close and the planet-eating villain will be appearing in Fortnite very soon, as the character has been teased in a big way. Teasing such a massive villain within Fortnite is no easy task, but it seems like Epic has done the character justice based on his size within the teaser....

Fortnite certainly made a big impact with the Marvel theme for Chapter 2 Season 4. Now that the season has wrapped up and the impressive Galactus event has taken place, Epic Games is gearing up to deliver more content during Season 5. Fortnite Season 5 is off to a fast start by introducing the God of War Kratos as one of the first skins released. Epic Games released a short trailer revealing Kratos, who is now available in the Fortnite item shop....
