Recently, Square Enix made several new announcements for the MMORPG Final Fantasy 14, a big comeback story in the franchise. Most of the news concerned a new update coming before the end of the year, Patch 5.4, that will bring a number of improvements to Final Fantasy 14 such as additional new quests and weapons, but developers also revealed surprise details about its port to the PS5. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake has reignited a passion for the already beloved role-playing game that can be seen all over the Internet, particularly through real-world recreations of its content. Final Fantasy 7’s lead character Cloud Strife has inspired much of that creativity thanks to his large, iconic Buster Sword, but one fan’s take on the character goes above and beyond the call of duty. Reddit user ManticMistvein uploaded a short gif showcasing their Cloud Strife cosplay to the r/gaming subreddit earlier today, complete with the armored shoulder pad, ridiculous spiky anime hair, and a life-sized Buster Sword....

FaZe Clan’s H1ghSky1 has fessed up to lying about his age following a ban from Twitch for being under 13. Patric, whose age came into question as the result of a lawsuit filed against FaZe by streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney, admitted to being 12 years old in a YouTube stream alongside his mother this week, having seen his Twitch account suspended. “My Twitch account was suspended due to me being underage,” he said....

A former Xbox marketing boss has some very positive things to say about the PS5 after Sony officially revealed the console’s specs. In a highly technical video, Sony announced the PS5’s specs, confirming how many teraflops the console has and the speed of its SSD. On ResetERA, Albert Penello, who was the boss of Xbox marketing for 18 years before leaving Microsoft last summer, said that he thinks Sony is making some “very smart moves” with the PS5....

Upon reaching Level 22 on Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 4 Battle Pass, players will unlock a brand new Jennifer Walters skin that can be used to transform a character into She-Hulk. Fortnite’s 14 Days of Summer event is on-going, providing players with a brand new challenge every day. This has tasked players with a variety of tasks such as finding giant beach balls and unicorn floaties, but the latest is a bit of a doozy. It requires players to visit a huge rubber ducky and a giant beach umbrella in a single match, which doesn’t sound that complex, but the trick is that the rubber ducky moves along the river....

With an iOS port on the way, a celebrity tournament being planned, and a streamer that broke records thanks to an appearance by Drake, Fortnite continues to be an unstoppable force in the industry. As the game’s popularity reaches an all-time high, Fortnite also continues to gain a lot of mainstream attention, which is good for continued sales, but it also puts a bigger spotlight on the team when issues or bugs pop up....

College campuses all around the world are full of distracted students: some are on social media, some are browsing off-topic content, and in the case of one class, the students are apparently playing Fortnite. One surprised Forza Horizon 4 pre-orderer woke up this morning to find that their game was already downloading, months ahead of the open world racing game’s October 11 launch date. It’s unclear if the game actually runs, perhaps as part of an ongoing alpha or beta test, but that’s less of an issue. While the error likely won’t result in any leaked gameplay of Forza Horizon 4, it did include a leaked folder containing what may be the final list of licensed cars in the racing game....

Doing promo for Wonder Woman 1984, leading actress Gal Gadot appeared (via video call) on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. There she partook in a cultural cuisine-swap with Fallon – actually a “sequel” to her previous appearance promoting the first Wonder Woman in 2017 – giving him some Israeli snacks like Gefilte Fish, while Gadot tried “American delicacies” for the first time, like Eggnog, Ho-Hos, and of course, Taco Bell....

A major game-breaking bug has been fixed in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, which resolves an issue that could make the game unplayable if the player’s team were wiped out in battle. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, the player is given the chance to choose which Pokémon their character will be, as well as the Pokémon that their partner will be. Over the course of the game, they will have the chance to recruit new Pokémon that they meet in the wild, who can then be taken out on missions as a third member of the team....

Tabletop roleplaying game resource and live play stream studio Garblag Games recently announced a new upcoming TTRPG live play streaming campaign featuring the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) 4E system. More than just your average tabletop roleplaying stream, this one is being sponsored by Cubicle 7, the creator of WFRP, and have provided Garblag with loot to share with the game’s viewing audience. Crimson Agate is a new item in Genshin Impact that released with the Version 1.2 update. It can be offered to the Frostbearing Tree in exchange for rewards. The Skyforest Nail is a huge part of the Dragonspine region in Genshin Impact. This is because it is found at the very top of the mountain and is guarding a domain called the Peak of Vindagnyr. It is also the only way for the player to collect all the Crimson Agate for the Frost Bearing Tree. The path to the nail is a bit complex, though, as it is a multi-part quest with little to no direction from the game....

The Genshin Impact 1.6 update’s major feature is the Golden Apple Archipelago. This is a map made up of several islands added for the events. There you can find tons of chests, a new enemy, and do a four-part quest to uncover the secret of the Dodo King. This is all while taking part in Genshin’s newest travel method, a boat. For those who want to get the full experience out of the island, things can get a bit confusing, especially since you will need to literally raise the islands out of the sea to actually begin exploring them....

A new trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands reveals that players will have an opportunity to customize their weapons and gear for missions within the game. One of Ubisoft’s most promising upcoming titles is Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, which the developer revealed at E3 a couple months ago. With the release set for March, it wasn’t surprising to see Ubisoft show off more of the game at the gamescom expo this week in Germany....
