Game Rant recently had the chance to sit down in a conference call with Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira, hosts of classic gaming-related TV shows on early-2000’s network G4TV. G4 is preparing for its long-awaited return, years after it went off-air, and it is already producing a steady trickle of YouTube and Twitch content as part of B4G4, an effort to get audience feedback and build hype. Sessler and Pereira joined us to answer questions and provide insight on the return of G4, and they didn’t disappoint....

Reports that Gabe Newell considered moving Valve to New Zealand appear to have been greatly exaggerated, but the man himself might stay there on a permanent basis. Yesterday, a new report from Valve News Network suggested that Valve CEO Gabe Newell was considering moving Valve production staff to New Zealand. Newell has been stuck in the country since the coronavirus pandemic shut down most air travel in March, and although he’s certainly wealthy enough to charter his own private jet back to the USA, he doesn’t seem to want to leave....

Insomniac Games announces Song of the Deep, a side-scroller set underwater, and it’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms sometime this summer. With development work nearing the end on the upcoming Ratchet & Clank movie tie-in and development long since wrapping on the well-received Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive, many fans have been wondering what’s next for Insomniac Games. After teasing fans earlier this week, the studio finally revealed its next title, a passion project called Song of the Deep, which combines puzzle solving with side-scrolling adventure elements....

As it turns out, the Earth Solar System in Mass Effect 2 shows the correct arrangement of all the planets for the year 2185–the year the game takes place. All except for one planet (editor’s note: not a planet): Pluto. It’s nice to see some accuracy in science fiction games from time to time. Any space-shooter that doesn’t have the “pew pew” sound of lasers and cannons gets kudos for realizing there isn’t any sound in space, as does the action-adventure game that understands that just because space is a vacuum doesn’t necessarily mean it’s absolutely cold absolutely everywhere....

Dungeons & Dragons is the most popular tabletop roleplaying game on the market, to the point that popular perception of TTRPGs is tied to elves, dragons, and grid-based alignment systems. However, more genres than swords-and-sorcery fantasy exist, and many try to take the fantasy game they know and make it work in other genres. But how effective is this? Here are some pros and cons. Genshin Impact has a colorful cast of characters that players can access by completing certain story quests or via the game’s gacha system. Some characters are more powerful than others, becoming hot commodities that players try to add to their list of party members. Others are considered to be less essential, not quite shaking up the meta and failing to inspire players. When he first launched on December 1, 2020, Zhongli failed to set the world of Genshin Impact on fire....

Fans of Genshin Impact have been enjoying the game’s recent major update, which included not only new characters and permanent features, but also special limited time events. The Unreconciled Stars event has been underway since the release of Version 1.1, but its second phase only just hit the game. Travelers were asked to help collect meteorite shards across Teyvat as part of the first phase of Unreconciled Stars, but as of today, Genshin Impact players can also start helping the astronomer, Mona, locate and salvage larger chunks of meteorite....

Genshin Impact has been hugely popular since its initial release two weeks ago, offering PC, PS4, and mobile gamers a free-to-play experience that most think is not egregious in its microtransaction implementation. The game has been so successful, in fact, that Genshin Impact has already surpassed $100m in revenue over its first two weeks of release. Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad shared some impressive stats about Genshin Impact’s run thus far, including that it is the most successful new IP from a Chinese developer....

Elemental Crucible is one of Genshin Impact’s first proper co-op events, and for the most part it’s impressive. It plays fairly similarly to how a raid might work in an MMO in that four players come together to take on various waves of enemies. At the same time, it’s better than just any old raid because it juxtaposes an ostensibly complex premise with brilliantly simplistic action. It’s short, snappy, and completely hectic — and yet there’s one massive issue preventing Elemental Crucible from being a genuinely enjoyable experience....

In a recent State of Play broadcast, Sony gave viewers a brand new look at the upcoming samurai action game Ghost of Tsushima and its black-and-white mode. Developed by Sucker Punch, who many may know from the Infamous series, Ghost of Tsushima tells the story of Jin Sakai and his battle against the Mongolian invasion of Japan in 1274 as he defends his home island of Tsushima, the last line of defense between the Mongols and the Japanese mainland....

As Hollywood tries to shake off a little box office rust, we’re reminded that, oh yeah, we’re getting another Ghostbusters movie. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to hit theater on November 11 and a second trailer has just been released for it. Much like the first trailer, we get a basic idea of our main characters and setting, but the threat is a little better explained. We still don’t fully understand what these kids are up against, but like a puzzle-based entrance to a scientist’s basement, the pieces are starting to come together....

A little over a month remains until Ghostrunner, the first-person cyberpunk action-platformer being co-published by All In! Games and 505 Games, finally comes out. Ghostrunner’s October release date was announced last week, but already the publishers have followed up by announcing that the game is also coming to the Nintendo Switch. Originally, All In! and 505 only confirmed that the game would be coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One when it launches on October 27....

Without a doubt, Santa Monica Studio’s forthcoming God of War title is easily one of the PS4’s most anticipated exclusives, and the developer has now revealed a new gameplay feature that will likely cause even more excitement among fans of the action-adventure franchise. According to the studio’s Marketing Producer, Aaron Kaufman, Kratos and his son, Atreus, are to share a somewhat equal footing on the battlefield, as the two will have dynamic combat elements occurring between them....

There’s no doubt that fans’ excitement for Sony and Santa Monica Studio’s forthcoming action-adventure epic, God of War, is widespread, especially with the companies having finally confirmed the game’s release date after a lengthy wait following its initial public reveal during E3 2016. In order to promote the title even further, though, the publisher and developer recently decided to show off a cinematic involving Kratos and his son Atreus during a Golden State Warriors game....

Sony’s latest foray in console gaming, the PlayStation 5, released in November of last year to great reviews. While stock shortages of the console have proven to be disappointing for many fans, there isn’t any shortage of jaw-dropping titles for players who managed to snag one. Many last-gen titles like God of War 2018 have also been upgraded to take advantage of the more powerful hardware, which gives veterans a reason to return to the game, as well as provide newcomers an even more inviting experience....

After about a four-year wait, God of War Ragnarök is almost here. We know you’re all waiting to see if the game lives up to the hype (it does), but we also know you’re waiting to see when you’ll actually be able to play the game. At present, God of War Ragnarök is scheduled to release on November 9 at midnight in your local region.
