Following our enlightening Flash Gordon 40th anniversary interview with the film’s director, Mike Hodges, we got to have an in-depth conversation with author John Walsh. Titan Books published Walsh’s exhaustive coffee table book Flash Gordon: The Official Story of the Film last November. It was a labor of love for Walsh that delves into the making of the movie and celebrates its enduring appeal. Walsh is a Trustee of the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation, and was also behind the BBC’s critically acclaimed documentary series Sofa Surfers, which explored childhood homelessness, and the BAFTA-nominated film My Life: Karate Kids, which tackled issues of bullying among disabled children....

Throughout Fortnite Season 5, players have been given weekly challenges to complete. Completing these challenges successfully rewards players with Battle Stars which allow them to unlock new cosmetics (e.g new emotes and sprays) as they go. The Fortnite Season 5, Week 6 challenges are now live, and players are scrambling to complete them before next Thursday rolls around and the challenges refresh once more. There are seven challenges in total (three free challenges and four for Battle Pass owners) with 50 Battle Stars up for grabs in total....

The company behind Makey Makey has created a game console by the name of GameBender, a system that allows its users to learn how to code through video games. The creators of GameBender, Jay Silver and Eric Rosenbaum, began their journey by creating the Makey Makey while at MIT under the direction of Mitch Resnick. Perhaps it’s a tad bit obvious from 2020’s GOTY list, but I’m still smitten with Genshin Impact. And like I do with most RPGs, I keep getting this itch to replay the story. I’ve turned my favorite classic, Final Fantasy 8, into a yearly summer activity, and I’ve memorized a few monologues from Persona 3 just from replaying it so much. Things are a little different with service games, though. Their very nature tends to make them bigger time sinks if you want to replay any story due to level gates or paid elements....
