Fuser is sort of like a spiritual successor to another Harmonix game, DropMix. It was a card game where players got a pack of cards with songs attached, placed them in a digital deck, and could then create mashups. It was essentially a toys-to-life game which meant it was expensive to get into. Harmonix seemingly learned from the experience and took the core of DropMix and created Fuser. It’s also a DJ game that involves remixing music, but with more of a hook behind it....

Add this one to the list of news items that are incredibly disappointing but nowhere near surprising. Apparently, games retailer GameStop has decided that there is still a chance to sell even more used copies than they are currently moving, provided that they remove the ways that customers can distinguish old from new. In a reportedly leaked directive from EB Games, GameStop’s Canadian branch out retail stores, employees are now directed to cease shelving used games separately, and even price each copy with the same colored stickers....

Announced a few days ago, Gears 5’s Operation 6 is the newest slice of content coming to the Microsoft-exclusive game, bringing a variety of fresh character skins and a new map. The DLC is available to play right now, with The Coalition also announcing that more content will be added as the Operation unfolds over the next few weeks. As for what players can expect when they download the latest Gears 5 update, three new characters have been a big selling point....

Whether it’s a Corpser, a Brumak, or any one of the franchise’s enemy types, the Gears of War series undoubtedly has no shortage of uniquely designed baddies and monsters that manage to pack a powerful punch in combat. While this is already the case, it looks as if The Coalition has decided to expand upon the preexisting stable of formidable foes even further by adding a new melee-heavy enemy for players to face in Gears 5....

Genshin Impact has had an eventful fall, with several literal events taking place in-game, and figurative events, like the game’s massive Version 1.1 update coming into play as well. While fans expect the next major patches to arrive later this month, and after the new year, miHoYo still has some holiday festivities in store for its players. Travelers will be able to participate in the “While It’s Warm” event this December in Genshin Impact....

Genshin Impact is now well into its second major update, known as Version 1.2. This large patch introduced new characters like Albedo, while inviting players into the Cryo-themed Dragonspine region for all new adventures. Yet despite all the new content rolling out with Version 1.2, some of the game’s existing features still appear to need some work. While fans of the five-star character Zhongli have been at odds with Genshin Impact developers over the character’s capabilities, it now seems that the controversial God of Contracts seems to be exhibiting a new unintended feature, leading to even more tension between miHoYo and its fans....

Genshin Impact has been celebrating the winter in its own special ways, with multiple events and more having been introduced to the game since November. As January kicks off and players wind down from Albedo’s Chalk Prince and the Dragon event, all eyes are turning towards the game’s next five-star: “Plenilune Gaze” Ganyu. Ganyu will be introduced in the near future as the next playable character in Genshin Impact, though her exact date of arrival is yet to be confirmed....

George R. R. Martin is busy to put it lightly. He’s working on an adaptation of his mentor’s novel for HBO, a brand new video-game from Dark Souls developer FromSoftware, and now, his own novelette Sandkings is being adapted by Netflix. This adaptation comes from Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski and Utopia creator Dennis Kelly. The novelette pre-dates Martin’s work on the likes of Game of Thrones - of which the finale is still in the works - coming from 1979....

Ghost of Tsushima has been available on PlayStation 4 for just under two months. While not without its criticism, the open-world action game was warmly received and very successful in terms of sales. Thus it may surprise some that Ghost of Tsushima’s developer Sucker Punch Productions was not always confident in the project. In fact, Sucker Punch was apparently nervous about the idea prior to making its initial pitch. The issue was that Sucker Punch is a development studio based in Bellevue, Washington, while its parent company Sony is based out of Japan....

Google seems to be one of those companies that no matter what it does, it always seems to come out on top of the market. However, it has had its fair share of failed projects in the past. Many will remember the doomed Google Glass device that simply struggled to find a home in the market. The company’s Stadia service is another example, and it looks as though the tech giant is finding itself in hot water over it....

Some games halt progress behind time limits (rounds per day, finite lives, etc.), while others simply offer a free trial without actually saying so. The blurred line between free game and paid game has become so muddy, in fact, that few gamers are actually surprised when a title asks them for a dollar here or a dollar there....

Google is shutting down another popular service, nearly nine years after its launch. Google Play Music, a music streaming and podcast service that also provides cloud hosting for users’ entire music libraries, will no longer be available by the end of 2020. On Tuesday, Google began sending out notifications to Google Play Music users to invite them to transfer their library to YouTube Music, which will absorb Google Play Music and consolidate the two services into one....

After the success of the Batman: Arkham franchise, fans clamor for a new Batman experience. Thanks to WB Games Montreal, gamers will get just that. However, instead of fighting crime as Gotham’s Caped Crusader, players get thrust in a Gotham without Batman. In Gotham Knights, Bruce leaves the protection of Gotham to his proteges. As such, gamers should strap in for a cooperative Batman experience with Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin....

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s DLC Intermission climaxes with an epic boss fight against Nero. In the depths of Shinra HQ, Yuffie and Sonon are confronted by the creepy, metal-winged member of the Tsviets, an elite group of soldiers that were featured in the spin-off Dirge of Cerberus. Nero can definitely be intimidating from the start, especially after seeing him devour his fellow Shinra soldiers around him. He’s extremely ruthless and noticeably deranged, so remaining nimble throughout the fight is a necessity....

Pop music sensation Ariana Grande takes to Instagram to reveal her character DW that will be added to the mobile game Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius in a future update. Nickelodeon star turned mega popular pop singer Ariana Grande is now expanding into the gaming industry. Whereas her fellow celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift have done this by releasing their own mobile games, Grande is taking a much different route....

Square Enix releases a nearly ten-minute long trailer detailing what fans can expect from Final Fantasy 14’s Patch 3.5: The Far Edge of Fate, including a new main scenario. The MMORPG genre might be forever doomed to live under the shadow of the continuous success of World of Warcraft, but Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 14 is gradually making a compelling case as the first true competitor to World of Warcraft in nearly a decade....

Final Fantasy, an RPG game that was supposed to be Hironobu Sakaguchi’s last game, spawned a franchise that has been a pillar of JRPG culture since its debut in 1987. Today, Final Fantasy 7 is available via Xbox Game Pass in all its glory, plus a few minor, yet sorely needed, tweaks. No, this is not the Final Fantasy 7 remake that recently came to PlayStation. All the characters retain their original block-handed sprites, and the only major differences between the Final Fantasy 7 game available now via GamePass and the original are a few extra options that will make the players’ Final Fantasy experience more enjoyable: the option to toggle random encounters on and off, a 3x speed mode, and a ‘battle enhancement mode....

Many beloved video game franchises try to maintain a semblance of continuity and worldbuilding. Usually, those attempts consist of linear a-to-b narratives across sequels, but there are times when the connections between games in a franchise can be a bit perplexing. For instance, each Legend of Zelda game seems insular at first, but they actually take place in a shared world and timelines. The timeline barely makes sense, but it’s there....
