Following Blizzard’s decision to halt further updates for StarCraft II, several members of its development team, backed by gaming investors, have banded together to form a new studio. Tim Morten, the former production director for StarCraft II, and Tim Campbell, the lead campaign designer for WarCraft III, have launched Frost Giant Studios. The new Orange County-based studio received nearly $4.7 million in seed funding from Bitkraft Ventures, as well as participation from 1 Up Ventures, GC Tracker, Riot Games, and Griffin Gaming Partners, the company said in a statement....

About a couple of weeks ago, Epic Games and People Can Fly announced the decision to continue introducing more sets of new limited time modes for the wildly popular sandbox survival title, Fortnite Battle Royale, in a bid to keep fans engaged with the free-to-play game. Fortnite dominated gaming in 2018, so much so that it crossed over into the mainstream and according to a new report, it brought in a ton of profit for its developer, Epic Games. While Epic Games has not confirmed the number, it is being reported that the Fortnite developer brought in $3 billion dollars in 2018. The profit figure comes from TechCrunch who reports that the numbers come from a source with knowledge of Epic Games’ business; however, Epic Games itself has never released revenue figures for Fortnite or for the company as a whole in 2018....
